UTEP Prospector: Meger Is A Gamer

UTEP Miner #13 Carson Meger./Courtesy UTEP SID 2012.

In an article published yesterday, the UTEP Prospector quoted UTEP offensive coordinator Aaron Price, calling Miners backup quarterback Caron Meger ” a gamer.”

Meger, a Wildcats football record-setting alumnus, is a redhsirt junior with the Miners, seeing progressively more time on the field with each year of eligibility.

An article in today’s MinerIllustrated.com points out that it’s Meger’s time to shine.

As the Plano Wildcats quarterback, Carson led the team to a 13-2 record his junior season and a 10-2 record his senior year.

Alumni Update 9-21-11: Carson Meger

UTEP QB #13 Carson Meger/Photo UTEP Athletics

The UTEP Miners travel to Sarasota Florida for this Saturday’s game against #18 University of South Florida at 6:00 p.m. Central time.   The Miners have played each of their three quarterbacks this season, and we have it on good authority that Sophomore Carson Meger will be starting as quarterback for UTEP this week.

Meger was a prolific passing quarterback during his years as a Wildcat, leading the team deep into playoffs his two years starting for the varsity.  He is the only Wildcat quarterback in recent memory to play that position in college for a BCS Division team.

You can watch Saturday’s game on espn3
