The Advocare USA Lineman Challenge State Tournament held July 20 presented the Plano Wildcats linemen seven challenges scored for competition plus a tug-o-war tournament that didn’t involve all twenty-four teams but did yield a 3rd Place medal for the Wildcats. The athletes representing Plano were: Allen Coates; Stephen Collins; Andrew Dockrill; Bobby Geibler; Dwayne Hicks; Eric Kim; Steven Murray; Skyler Purcell; Darron Shannon; and, Jeremy Temme.
The challenges were:

Medicine Ball Throw – throw the ball for distance in any style, with two attempts per athlete (Shannon, Dockrill, Hicks, Murray & Collins).
Farmer’s Walk – the athlete must grip and carry a special 135 pound barbell in each hand and walk 25 yards for time (Coates, Purcell, Collins, Shannon & Temme).
Truck Push – a Chevy Suburban with driver pushed 50 yards for time by a group of five shoulder-to-shoulder athletes per team (Murray, Temme, Kim, Shannon & Purcell).

Of note, Darron Shannon was recognized for having the longest medicine ball throw of the tournament, surpassing the next best by two feet.
And, as proof that the sum is greater than any one individual, the Wildcats took home the trophy for 2nd Place Tournament Team.
The Plano Wildcats endured triple digit temperatures in the baking sun for four hours while competing against 24 schools from around the state today in the USA State Lineman Challenge Tournament held in Duncanville.
We don’t have all the stats in yet, so the quick highlights are the team placed second overall for the combined seven lineman challenges, and third place overall in the tug-o-war.
We’ll have a more detailed description of the challenges, the scores, the team and individual challenge rosters and team photo with trophy and medals soon.
In the meantime, know that CiCi’s survived the onslaught of hungry linemen.
