Coming out of pool play 2-1, Plano, along with 3-0 La Marque, advance from Pool E to championship bracket play tomorrow.
Plano started the day losing to La Marque in a nail-biter 28-26, a game that was tied 20-20 at the half. Plano’s defense turned it on in the second game, against Klein Oak (0-3 in pool play for the day), leading 26-7 at the half and finishing 34-7.
As thunderstorms moved in from the East, in a hurried game Plano was tied with Abilene at half 13-13 after Abilene scored on a Hail-Mary pass with seconds left, but Plano took control in the second half and finished comfortably 33-12.
Championship play begins at 9:00 a.m. Saturday. As of this writing the identity of Plano’s first opponent has not been released.
