Plano To Be Marooned Out Friday In College Station

The pools have been set for the 2011 Division I 7-on-7 Football State Championship Tournament and Plano will be the home team in all three pool play games.

Beginning play at 1:00 p.m. Friday against La Marque, the Wildcats will start in maroon and with its defensive squad. At 3:00 p.m. the opponent is Klein Oak, and the final pool play game will be at 5:00 p.m. against Abilene.

Pools were established by random draw, without seeding, according to the tournament web site.

Cross-town rival Plano West faces John Tyler, Katy and Arlington Lamar in its pool, playing the same scheduled times as Plano. Plano East is not competing this year.

As in past tournaments, winners of pool play advance to single-elimination championship bracket play that begins at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, with pool consolation bracket play beginning Saturday at 8:00 a.m. The Wildcats expect to earn that extra hour of sleep with strong play on Friday, as demonstrated throughout SQT and League play leading up to this tournament.

PlanoFootball.com will be at the games Friday and Saturday, reporting scores on its Twitter feed throughout play, with stories, photos, and video here each evening. Stay tuned, and good luck Wildcats!
