A player each on offense and defense are expected to formalize commitments Wednesday as the regular college football signing period opens.

Athletes in football, in addition to cross country, field hockey, soccer, track and field and men’s water polo, are eligible to sign national letters of intent beginning Wednesday.

Starting free safety Brandon McCalister is expected to sign with West Texas A&M. Starting offensive tackle Kyle Hammond is expected to sign with Drake University.

Both commitments were announced Friday by coach Jaydon McCullough.

The regular football signing period closes April 1.

Others to sign

As of Friday, two other Wildcats were expected to be among the signing class Wednesday. Soccer goalie Sean Cote is expected to sign with George Mason and basketball standout Jake Martin with Dallas Baptist.
