The PlanoFootball.com staff have been off for the holidays, but several Wildcat Football alumni have been on the job with their teams preparing for post-season bowl games.
Which players? Which bowls? Here’s the run down:
SHERATON HAWAII BOWL — Nevada vs. SMU. Plano connection – Blake McJunkin
As you already know, SMU was the underdog heading into this Christmas Eve game, but came out the champ. Here’s what the Dallas Morning News had to say about SMU’s 45-10 rout
Congrats to SMU Mustang Blake McJunkin!
PACIFIC LIFE HOLIDAY BOWL– Nebraska vs. Arizona. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 7 p.m. (TV: ESPN.) Plano connection – Rex Burkhead.
Like SMU, Nebraska is the underdog going into the game. The Dallas Morning News doesn’t have much to say about the game (yet), but count on the Omaha World Herald to predict a Husker win after comparing each team’s strengths and weaknesses.
Go Big Red, and Go Big Rex!
BELL HELICOPTER ARMED FORCES BOWL – Air Force vs. Houston. Friday, Dec. 31, 11 a.m. (TV: ESPN.) Plano connection – Matt Nicholson.
Unlike his fellow Wildcat alumni, Matt’s with the favored team coming into its bowl game, the Cougars. Here’s the Dallas Morning News’ overview of the match-up, and here’s what the Houston Chronicle has to say about the upcoming game in its preview. Also, unlike the other two games, this one takes place in Fort Worth and might be worth the trip from Plano.
We’ll be rooting for the Cougars, Matt!
